Laser treatment for rosacea
Rosacea is a common skin disorder that causes redness, flushing, and broken blood vessels in the centro-facial region, and may be accompanied by acne-like breakouts. Stress, sunlight, and certain foods and beverages, such as wine, can cause rosacea to flare. Avoidance of triggers is recommended. Prescription medications can control the acne-like breakouts, but in-office procedures are the only method to decrease or eliminate the redness and broken blood vessels on the face. A few treatment sessions may be necessary every 3 to 4 weeks. It is important patients use sunscreen in the month following treatment to help prevent hyperpigmentation. The treatment does not prevent new broken blood vessels from developing, so additional sessions may be needed. Generally results last for 3 to 5 years.
